Zamfara Police Arrests Notorious Bandit, Recover Two AK 47 Rifles, Car Snatches Syndicate.

Zamfara state police command has arrested one notorious bandits who has been terrorizing the people of the state as well as the neighboring states of Kebbi, Sokoto and katsina.

Addressing Journalists in Gusau on Friday, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Shehu Mohammad said, the criminal called, Isiyaku Babangida of Kabe village in Kebbi State was arrested in a serious gun battle.


Exhibits recovered from him according to the police public relation  officer SP Shehu included two AK 47 rifles, two fabricated guns and 236 live ammunition.


Shehu said the Police Tactical Operatives of the Command acted on intelligence information about an attempt by a notorious Bandit’s Kingpin one Alhaji Bello and his gang members to invade and attack some communities in Anka and Bukkuyum LGAs respectively. 

He said on receiving the intelligence, the police swung into action and promptly moved near the bandit’s enclaves where a serious gun battle between the bandits and the Police operatives ensued. 

He said, “The superior fire power of the Police operatives successfully dislodged the bandits, a situation that forced them to flee with possible gunshot wounds”.

 “One of notorious bandits in the Camp called Isiyaku Babangida ‘M’ of Kabe Village of Kebbi State was arrested, while the above mentioned exhibits were recovered at the scene”.


Meanwhile, the police has also succeeded in arresting a member of notorious syndicate who specialized in snatching of vehicles to steal money or valuables, the suspect who as  Usman Umar, aged 39. 

According to police public relation officer SP Shehu Muhammad said, “On 23/08/2022 at about 1700hrs, a complainant one Nura Umar Shinkafi ‘M’ attached to Zamfara State Investment Department reported that unknown person(s) broke the left side glass of his Peugeot 406 vehicle with registration number Abuja RSH 531 RD and made away with his bag”

“The bag was containing his HP Laptop Black in colour with serial number CND0515RPN, valued at N250,000, his I.D Card and N3.473 million”.

‘On 5th September, 2022, the Police in collaboration with the Situation Control Room in the Government House, Gusau swung into action and arrested the above named suspect”


“In the course of investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and further stated that he and his syndicate members have on several occasion perpetrated similar crime in Borno, Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto States”.

The Commissioner of Police Zamfara State Command, CP Kolo Yusuf psc, today patrolled the entire 100km of the Gusau -Talata Mafara - Sokoto Federal highway  for hands -on assessment and  personally supervised  the operational capacity of Police Tactical/Conventional operatives deployed  to ensure the safety of commuters along the route. 

In the course of the patrol, the commissioner of Police mapped out some Salient and strategic points along the  highway which would be fortified with the deployment of operatives from the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), and conventional Police operatives. 

Meanwhile the patrol, the CP  equally visited joint operatives of Operation  Hadarin Daji nipping point at opposite Zamfara State College of Education Maru, where he charged the personnel to be security conscious of themselves and the community they are protecting. 

The Commissioner of Police used the opportunity and paid a courtesy visit on His Royal Highness the Emir of Mafara, Alhaji Dr. Bello Mohammed Barmo OON, at his Palace in Talata Mafara. 

The CP assured the Emir that, with the ongoing commitment and determination of the Police and other security agencies in the state, normalcy would be restored across the state. while tasking  members of the public on active intelligence sharing with Law Enforcement Agencies for effective policing of all spaces. 

According to the police spoken person zamfara state police command SP Shehu Muhammad said, the Commissioner of Police while returning back to Gusau, branched at 207 Quick Response Group, Nigerian Air Force Base, where the CP visited the Commander Mr. D M Komo and solicited for harmonious working synergy among the security operatives for effective service delivery.
