The Nigeria Union of journalists Zamfara council NUJ made the called in a communique, during a the congress organized by the council, the congress has deliberated on sensitive issues bordering on Security, Welfare and well-being of its members in particular and the Zamfara State Citizens in general
The communique signed by the council chairman comrade Ibrahim Musa Maize and secretary of the council comrade Ibrahim Ahmad Gada has the do issues.
The Congress gave a pass mark to the Zamfara State Executive Governor Dauda Lawal for appointing it's members into the positions of Managing Directors, and Media Managers of Various Media outfits in the state as well as reviving production at the State Government Owned Newspaper Company (The Legacy Newspaper) after several years of its non-functional.
The Union commended the management of the State owned Publishing Company (Publisher of the Legacy Newspaper)s under its new Managing Director Ahmad Sani Tsafe for restoring production within the shortest possible time and called on the state government to equip the Organization with additional modern facilities for improved productivity.
The Congress commended the Zamfara State Government under the able leadership of Dauda Lawal for payment of Three months backlog workers salary in addition to payment of pensions within it's one month period on power.
The Union while acknowledging the resolve of the state government towards sanitizing payroll of civil servants, appealed for speedy process as currently many civil servants whose salary are hanging are in serious hardship.
The congress regretted the return of incessant attacks and other forms of insecurity across the state and its negative impact on the people and called on the State Government to strengthen her collaboration with the Federal Government in addressing the menace
The Union while commending Present administration of Governor Dauda Lawal for it's resolve to introduce State Security Trust Fund as parts of its measures towards addressing the security situation of the state, advised the government to immediately set up a special security committee with membership of traditional rulers, retired security personnel from the state as well as other relevant stakeholders.
The Congress suggests that as a matter of urgency, the state government to unvail it's plans for distribution of palliatives to people of the state to cushion the devastating effects of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government. There is serious need of distribution of food stuff and other necessary items to common man across the state.
The Congress described it as a welcome development, the recent provision of job opportunities to one thousand five hundred youths by Government of Dauda Lawal and hope the number of beneficiaries would be increased considering the number of unemployment youth roaming across the state.
The union advised the state government to accord more priority to agriculture which is the main source of employment in the state through provision of inputs and other incentives to farmers.
