A non governmental orgarnisation, Follow The Money (FTM) has organized a one day Town hall meeting on Covid-19 in Gusau Zamfara state capital.
Speaking during the opening of the meeting, the transparency and accountability project (CTAP) II. Zamfara state team led by Malam Kabiru Garba, welcomed the community members and stakeholders to the meeting.
He said the meeting will discuss solemely on Covid 19 Vaccines in the state.
Malan Kabiru Garba added that, Transparency and Accountability project will focus on Vaccines utilization and accountability, informing the Community Members that they will liaise with the Zamfara state government and Community to make sure there is Vaccines .
According to him, Accountability on Covid 19 across Health facilities in the state, is here to discuss the findings from the data collected and map out ways to improve PHCs in Zamfara state.
During the meeting, Dr. Bashiru Abubakar, representative of the Executive Secretary, primary Healthcare Board and PHC Incharge led the team on a supervision of Covid -19 vaccination booths to ensure those assigned were carrying out their duties as stipulated.
The Team leader added that the second phase of project will focus on improving Healthcare funding and address the issues related to covid-19 vaccines deployment.
“We are calling on Zamfara State Government to take immediate action in providing quality Healthcare services across the 147 Wards in the state.
“We visited about 140 PHCs across the state to know their status, and get the percentage of vaccines received, administered and the remaining ones" he concluded.
Kabiru Garba, informed the participants that, Follow The Money ( FTM ) has a track record of implementing social Accountability project, and is always working with community members for sustainability of it's projects and they are going to liaise with the state government to ensure PHC Centres will be functional.
He stated that statistics showed the status of Health extension workers, medical officers, health technicians, mid wives, nurses, community health workers, is good, as according to him, number of vaccines received, vaccines used and vaccines remain in the state, are intact
In their various remarks, participants urged the organization to assist in addressing some challenges facing Health Facilities across the state most especially in some security compromised areas.
According to one of the community member, Muhammad Ahmad “We need to partner with Organization like yours in addressing some challenges facing this Community, especially in the area of Female Health workers and so many challenges.
The Executive secretary Representative Dr. Bashiru Abubakar thanked the Organizers for the role played in ensuring accountability and improved Healthcare services delivery especially using data to get information.
Zamfara Government, has constructed and renovated about 147 PHCs across the state from 2019 to date.
He however assured the government's commitments to partner with their organization in the area of Accountability and transparency across the Health facilities in the state.
